La Catrina Quartet

Founded in 2001, this young quartet has a threefold mission: to work closely with living composers, to promote Mexican and Latin American art music, and to perform the master works of the string quartet repertoire. Their recent performances have included the world premiere of the string quartet Our Hands Were Tightly Clenched by composer Zae Munn. La Catrina is the quartet-in-residence for the Western Piedmont Symphony and the Chamber Music Festival of San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. Their UW World Series debut brings the 2009-10 chamber season to a satisfying close.
